In depth

How this service works on site

Walls take damage from two directions: scratches and gouges from material movement, and paint contamination from the trades coming after the painter. Both are expensive to fix at handover — a single scuff on a feature wall can mean repainting the whole wall to colour-match.

We layer foam-back hardboard on impact zones (corridors, doorways, near joinery installs) and bubble-foil on flat-finish walls where contact is incidental rather than direct. Skirtings get a separate strip — they're the easiest place to chip and the hardest to repaint without a visible line.

Custom-cut around switch plates, sockets, vents and other fixtures so the protection sits flat to the wall and nothing gets caught when trades work around it. No floppy edges, no taped-over fixtures.

Our process

From drawings to handover

  1. 01

    Drawing review & site walk-through

We mark out which walls need foam-back protection vs bubble-foil, which zones need extra reinforcement at door openings.

  2. 02

    Material spec & fixed quote

m² calculation + per-fixture cutouts. Quote returned within 1 business day for standard jobs.

  3. 03

    Material pre-cut

Panels pre-cut to wall heights and around fixtures off-site, so install is fast and clean.

  4. 04

    On-site install

Mounted with low-tack tape on the protection side (never on the wall). Skirtings get a separate strip with a sealed top edge.

  5. 05

    Mid-build re-tape (when needed)

Single visit between trades to re-tape lifted panels or replace impacted sections.

  6. 06

    Removal & wall condition check

Clean removal, residue check, photo log of wall condition before handover.

Why Dun

What sets this service apart

No adhesive on the finished wall

Tape goes on the protection panel, not the paint. No torn surface, no adhesive residue at handover.

Pre-cut around fixtures

Switch plates, sockets, A/C vents — all cut off-site to template, so the protection sits flat and trades work around it without ripping it down.

Skirting strip separately

Skirtings get their own protection strip — separate enough to remove without disturbing the wall protection above.

Coordinated with the painter's schedule

We install after the final coat has cured (typically 7+ days) and don't cover any wall the painter still has work on.

FAQ

Common questions about this service

Will the tape damage fresh paint?

We use low-tack painters' tape on the protection panel itself, not on the wall surface. The wall only sees the foam back of the panel. Removed cleanly even on matte and chalky finishes.

Can you protect wallpaper or fabric-finish walls?

Yes — we use loose-laid foam panels with magnetic or weighted anchors (no adhesive contact). Quote includes the spec change.

What about feature walls with timber or stone cladding?

Foam-back hardboard with seam tape between panels. For timber cladding we add a felt interleaf so foam doesn't compress the grain.

Do you remove the protection at the end, or do we?

We do — included in the install quote. Material gets cleared off site too. Trades that ask 'who's removing the wall covering?' are the wrong answer.
